The inspiration for the painting came from a  collection of photos taken of this single gorgeous sunset on Canon Beach in Oregon.  I was particularly struck by the simplicity and beauty of the scene as the gulls and pelicans glided by while this young couple set and watched the clouds evolve in color and form across the sky.  I think sunsets may be Gods most beautiful work.
